Ralph Lee Hopkins’ photography was an outgrowth of his love of landscapes and background in geology. After college he moved to Utah and acquired a used 4 X 5 view camera and photographed his way through graduate school at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff where he studied geology in the Grand Canyon. Now, Hopkins is Director of Photography Expeditions for Lindblad Expeditions, one of the premier companies in expedition travel. He also teaches photography workshops with Arizona Highways, National Geographic Expeditions, and the Santa Fe Workshops, and is co-lecturer on tour with the National Geographic Traveler magazine series, “Travel Photography in the Digital World.”

Photos from Ralph’s travels are published widely and regularly featured in magazines, books, and calendars by National Geographic and Lonely Planet. His work also appears in most major nature and photography magazines including Arizona Highways, Nature’s Best, New Mexico, Outdoor Photographer, Outside, Popular Photography, Santa Fean, and Smithsonian. His images are represented worldwide by the National Geographic Image Collection and Lonely Planet Images.
